Facebook archive to Bluesky: step-by-step

Moving from Facebook to Bluesky works best when you review before you publish. FbZip2Blue is a browser-based workflow: load your Meta export ZIP, convert posts and media automatically, edit in a table, then publish to Bluesky with a paid license. Publishing is browser-only; optional free Posts Archive desktop app (Windows or Linux) via Download for desktop and the downloads page.

Upload export, then Convert posts on Import + Convert.

Prerequisites

  • Facebook export ZIP — see how to download your Facebook export
  • FbZip2Blue account (sign in at /webv/)
  • Bluesky App Password (Settings → App passwords) if you will publish
  • Modern browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari)

Step 1 — Load and convert

  1. Go to /webv/ and sign in.
  2. On Import + Convert, choose your Facebook ZIP(s).
  3. Click Upload export, then Convert posts.
  4. Wait for upload and conversion progress to finish (large files use chunked upload).
  5. Optional: under Advanced options, set conversion name, status, and notes, then Save conversion details (paid plans).

Step 2 — Review on Post Review

Open Post Review (sidebar → Review) after conversion finishes. To resume later, open a .fbzpkg from My packages.

  • Use paging and Included only to focus on what you will publish.
  • Edit text, hashtags, and group selector per row.
  • The Timestamp column is the date from the export, saved in the .fbzpkg. Publishing sends that date to Bluesky as the post date. If the export has no date, the column shows when the archive was parsed — leave those unpublished if it matters. There is no date-repair tool. To put the date in the wording, edit Text, or Post text in Preview.
  • Toggle Include in upload for each post.
  • Use bulk hashtags and bulk include/exclude for many rows at once (paid).
  • Free plan: convert and preview up to 10 posts included—see in-app banner for exact limits.

Step 3 — Download .fbzpkg (required to keep your work)

After saving edits on Post Review, click Download .fbzpkg. The file is encrypted for this browser. Re-open anytime from My packages in the sidebar. Server copies are temporary. Details: local conversion package guide.

Step 4 — Publish to Bluesky (paid)

  1. On Post Review, find the Bluesky card.
  2. Enter handle and App Password (not your main Bluesky password).
  3. Enable Dry run and publish one test post—read the log.
  4. Choose Long post publish mode if posts exceed ~300 characters (Auto, Article + link, Thread split, or Short only).
  5. Disable dry run when ready; use single-row Publish or Bulk publish.
  6. Support chat (paid users) is available inside /webv/ for migration questions—do not paste your ZIP into chat.

Resume later

Download a .fbzpkg, then open it from My packages — no re-upload unless you start a new import. Server copies may be purged after download or within 72 hours; your local file remains.
